This Old House
It's increasingly difficult to keep up with two blogs. But it's nice to have a blog dedicated to the pregnancy - it's something I can share with our child down the road, or just look back on and enjoy myself.
Today is a great day. I'm feeling good - I'm showered and dressed nicely. I'm "working" today (which really just means that I'm available by phone, email if anyone needs me) but I'm also having six (count them, SIX) contractors come by the house today to give estimates. We have a ton of projects to finish on the house and six months to finish them! (I will NOT allow banging or strangers in my home once the baby's here.)
Two guys who own their own painting company came by earlier this morning. They were absolutely adorable - probably my age or a year or two older. One was a musician in Atlanta who came back to the area to take care of his mom because she had breast cancer. He stayed here because he hated his corporate job (which he needed to support himself). So he and his buddy from high school started this painting company and it's obvious that they love what they do. Both of them were so friendly, so personable, and totally sincere. I really hope that their estimate comes back low so we can work together!!
The electrician just left. Another nice guy - young - who just started his own business. He moved down here from Arlington (my old stomping ground) a year and a half ago with his girlfriend. Totally soft-spoken, knowledgable, trustworthy. He's renovating his own house in Richmond and we were commiserating about how expensive contractors are (which is funny considering that he is one!).
I've got a muralist coming at noon (a recent art graduate) to talk about a possible mural in our nursery, a floor guy coming to look at installing carpet and refinishing our floors, and a bathroom/kitchen renovator coming to look at our kitchen cabinets and the porch we want to turn into a half bath right off the kitchen.
So fun!!
