So here's my dilemma - I totally want to play but all of the books I'm reading are nonfiction and having to do with having a baby. But, in the effort to NOT cheat, here goes:
Book #1:
Another effective way of soothing a baby whose desperate crying is already reduced to sobs is to rest your head against his and to hum or intone so that the baby not only hears the sound of your voice but also feels the resonance. A deep, low tone is often best, but you can vary it. As the baby relaxes, your gentle reverberating hum can turn into singing--any sort of nonsense will do.
- Breastfeeding Your Baby, Sheila Kitzinger
Book #2: (From the "Real Voices" section)
I used to bring orange peels to work and sort of squirt them at my nose to relieve nausea. I would sit in meetings and hold the orange peel to my nose and breath in. (Eileen, mom of 2)
I had heard that pineapple helps with nausea, so I would eat it after means, which sometimes acutally helped. (Martha, mom of 2)
- The Whole Pregnancy Handbook, Joel M. Evans and Robin Aronson
If you decide to play, leave me a comment so I can check your entry out!! :)
