I've had a good week off from work....got to do some reflecting, lots of work on the house, and even a little bit of relaxing!
My week started out in Richmond - Brian and I drove down there Monday morning. He had some HR stuff (paperwork, physical, etc.) to take care of. I dropped him off Downtown and then took a ride out to two massage schools in the area. Of the two, one really stood out as the better option...and their classes begin September 7!! Can't believe it!!
We had lunch and spent the rest of the day with our friends who just moved down to the area. It was great seeing them and I'm thrilled that they found a great house. It's beautiful!
It's funny - I think that for months, I've been downplaying what a big deal this move is going to be. Just because Richmond is only 90 miles from where I live now, doesn't mean that this move is going to feel like we're moving down the road a stretch. We may as well be moving to Chicago or Boston! It was enormously comforting to see our friends in Richmond, enjoying the town. And it's really comforting to know that they will be there when Brian and I get there tomorrow.
The rest of this week was spent at home (in NoVa), trying to get the house ready to go on the market. We worked our asses off: organizing every closet, every drawer, every cupboard. I think we probably threw away about 100 pounds of stuff and took another 200 pounds to Salvation Army.
Last night was our "going away party" (which was really just a get together of a couple of friends for drinks). Brian got absolutely shit faced. When I say absolutely shit faced, I mean he couldn't put sentences together and was sloppy. It was kind of a bummer...it would have been more fun if he hadn't been so drunk. But I had a great time with my girlfriends - catching up and hanging out. I didn't think I would get sad, but then I had to say goodbye to them and the waterworks started. Turns out I'm just a big cry baby. ha.
So today we have cleaning people coming and we need to finish packing for our trip down to Richmond tomorrow. The whole family (Brian, me, dog, and cat) will be living in a one-room suite for the next several weeks. It's going to be quite an experience....
As for the job stuff - I spoke with the CEO yesterday. I told her that I want to go back to school and work part time. She said she had a position in mind and would be in touch with me. Can you believe that!?!?! Is the universe taking care of me or what!?!?!?
