I know you are out there.

That's right---I know that you are out there... We are the huddled masses...the ones who secretly tune in to our TVs and become slaves to the Tuesday and Wednesday night drama. The ones who, albeit with shame, pick up the phone and dial in our vote. The ones who wonder...WHY is Anthony Federov still singing? And did Paula actually do the nasty with Corey Clarke or is it just hype?

That's right, I'm talking about fellow American Idol fans.

I've never been a big fan of the show until this season. I used to watch the first couple of episodes (to laugh at the really really bad singers) and the last two episodes (to see who won). But something about this season's American Idol has sucked me in and I'm a religious Idol watcher now. They upped the age limit so some of the contestants have been older and more sophisticated. The singers are not ALL wanna-be Britneys or Justins, there have been some downright unattractive singers that have made it to the final 10, as well as some alternative and rock singers that are still in it to win. So here is my confession:

My name is Ryan and I'm an American Idol addict.

And I'm not alone. My husband is with me on the couch every Tues and Weds night, too. We watch. We vote. We make fun of Ryan Seacrest. And last night, we created our own drinking game for the show.

If you don't watch the show, this game won't be funny to you. But if you do watch Idol, try this game on for size!

Take a drink each time...

...Randy says:
- dawg
- it was just awwwwight for me
- you really know who you are
- that was hot

...Paula says
- you're a star
- you really stretch/challenge yourself
- I'm so proud of you
- take three drinks each time she claps like a seal (which is every time, so you're going to be hammered).

...Simon says:
- absolutely
- at this stage in the competition

...take two drinks if any judge:
- says that a performance was "pitchy"
- tells a contestant that "it wasn't your best performance."

...a contenstant:
- nods at the camera while singing
- makes the "call me" signal to the camera when their voting phone number is displayed
- makes a number signal (for example, the #1 signal) to the camera to indicate what number their voting phone number ends in (in this case, "01").

A word of caution--don't play this game if you expect to get to work on time the next day. Trust me on that one.

Happy Idoling! :)
