I am really looking forward to this weekend. Not because I'm doing anything fun, but just because I don't have any big trips bookending my Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

I'll be on the road a bit today and again on Tuesday, but not overnight. And that is a beautiful thing! No packing or unpacking. No loading up the car with a bunch of stuff. No goodbyes to the husband, puppy, or cat. No expenses to put on the corporate card. Just peace and quiet. Wonderful.

I am going out to dinner with my best friend tonight, which I'm excited about. She's amazing--and is handling a very difficult and sad situation in her life with powerful grace. It's incredible! I'm definitely taking notes...

Tomorrow, B and I will take Mara for her first day of doggy boot camp. Just kidding. But she does start her new training classes with other dogs tomorrow. She's such a mess around other dogs, it'll be interesting to see how she does. We are totally going to be the "remedial dog owners," I just know it. Our dog is "special."

I was on the phone with the woman who runs the class yesterday afternoon. I asked her where it was, and she started giving me directions. The class is about thirty minutes away, but the whole time she was giving me directions, I kept thinking "Gosh, this sounds familiar." Anyway, come to find out a minute later that the classes are being held in the parking lot of the church that Brian and I got married in. ha!

I think that puppy training classes are the only way (outside of my own wedding) to get me to hang out at a Catholic church.

Which brings me to another interesting thing that happened yesterday--Brian and I went out to celebrate St. Patty's Day last night and got into a deep discussion about spirituality (see how we throw down??). He said some really interesting things--things I've never heard him say. Things that make me believe that we aren't so different spiritually, even though he's a practicing Catholic and I'm, very decidedly, not. Our conversation was such a great reminder that radically different beliefs can be conjoined by a simple discussion of general ideas. I know I'm being vague, but there's no need for details. It was just a great conversation between a married couple at a bar.

So that' s it for me. Got some work to do before my appointment this afternoon, so off I go.

TGIF!!
