Day five--still alive

Well, I finished Day 5 and have successfully begun Day 6. Yay me!

Ahhhh, the beach. It's a beautiful thing being on vacation. I had to fight every urge to take Mara to the beach this morning (for her first time), because I know Brian wants to be with us when she goes.

The trip down took about eleven hours and change (oy!). It's really only a 9.5-10 hour drive, but Mara wasn't used to being in the car so we had to stop all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL THE TIME. Then, she would get so overwhelmed with all of the smells of other dogs at the rest stops, that she would psych herself out and not be able to go. Argh! It was really frustrating.

We made it though, and Mara and Sammy (my family's Golden) are getting along well. Sammy isn't used to being the alpha dog. Willy, our Golden that died a couple of months ago, always had that distinction. So to see Sammy try to assert his dominance over Mara is pretty funny because he obviously doesn't know what to do with himself.

I'll take lots of pictures of this fiasco and put them on this blog as soon as I figure out how to download pics from my cell to my computer.
