Boss blues
Here's the actual email I got from my boss...
GirlRy,
Please remember that there’s a dress code for the office and nice jeans are only allowed on Fridays. Thanks!

Here's the response I sent...
I was surprised to receive this email. The general application of the dress code, as I observed it, was that nice jeans were okay for the last day of your work week. Being that today is the last work day of the week for me, I didn’t even imagine that it would be a problem for me to wear jeans. Rest assured that I will follow the dress code to the letter from now on.
More importantly, however, I was disheartened to read your email. In the past few months, I feel like I’ve really “stepped up to the bat” for our team. I’ve taken on new responsibilities, including facilitating blah blah, helping new coworker get her bearings, working with the Facilities, etc. I believe that the quality of my work has never been higher than it is right now and in the past few months, I’ve worked harder and done more for our team than I had previously. I’ve not received much feedback on this transition, which was okay because I knew I was getting the job done well. To that end, however, I was quite discouraged that the feedback I received today was about my appearance, instead of my work.
I’ll be leaving the office shortly (I’m leaving a bit early to get on the road), but if you’d like to discuss this when you return on Tuesday, I’d be happy to.
Thanks,
GirlRy
